He participated in the State Championship in 2013 and won the Gold Medal in the 62 kg weight category, lifting 113 kg in snatch and 143 kg in clean and jerk. In 2016, he participated in the Haryana State Championship and won the Gold Medal in the 67 kg weight category, lifting 120 kg in snatch and 145 kg in clean and jerk. This was a moment of great pride for Naveen, who had now become a champion in two different states.
With his sights set on the Commonwealth Games 2018, Naveen began training rigorously. But just 15 days before the trials, disaster struck.
